Travel/Lifestyle/Beauty Blogger Envy

I want to sip lattes and take pictures of myself in cute outfits and get PAID! How?! Seriously travel/lifestyle/beauty blogger envy happening right meow, folks. Wouldn’t it be grand if I could get paid to travel and post pictures of how much fun I am having? This is living the new american dream. I know that first, I would need an Instagram husband…too bad I had to fire mine.

I struggle with this though. Deeply. On one hand it sounds extremely cool and amazing, on the other I think: this isn’t real life. Spending hours getting ready, curling my hair, applying makeup, and buying a coffee just to take pictures with it… but then it all sounds so glorious! Could I stand that many pictures of my own face though?
Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetInstead of punching in on a nine to five job, these ladies are getting paid to look pretty. They are capitalizing and self-marketing in ways I can’t even fathom. One of my favorites is a travel blogger who gets to zip around the world with free board at some of the most exclusive hotels, and then writes about it. Heaven!

Is this a credible profession? I ponder what would qualify me to give style and fashion tips? I guess like any style blogger, if you have a computer and a Visa you are in. But will this go against everything I believe in? I am torn. As a woman, I am about being different, promoting self-love, and using my noggin and wit to compel, not my outfits. Would I become one more eyeliner abusin’, Starbucks sippin’, Hans Solo outfit wearin’ wanna-be? Or should I live out my silly girl dreams?!

What do YOU think?

I’m loving your blog but I would also like to invite you to submit a short piece to my own. I think your perspective and style of writing would be a perfect piece for my project.

It’d also be a great way to get your blog/writing out there.

Please feel free to email me (jennifer@youngandtwenty) with more questions, or take a look at the ‘BEING Young & Twenty’ page on my blog.

    I hope I’ll hear from you 🙂

I believe in following your passions and dreams. If it is traveling, fashion, television, math, looking at rocks, or learning to line dance. Do it! Most of my life I have struggled with I suppose the “Labels.” What makes me proficient enough to call myself a chef or yoga instructor or now a writer. But the fact is, if you are zealous enough about a subject, then yes I think you can call yourself that. Life is all about learning. It is also way to short to not at least like what you do:) ❤

I hear you!! When i first started my blog, I use to flick through hundreds of travel bloggers accounts, wondering how on earth they got to where they are. I 100% believed my blog would never move forward (mostly because I doubted I had anything to offer and also because I failed english)…. 24 months on and I rarely have time to update my posts BUT something is happening.. I have stayed at a few luxury hotels in exchange for a review, been offered a few low key tours and started connecting with some of the those bloggers i considered my idols. Crazy. I still have NO IDEA how people manage to gain an audience of 100’s of thousands and travel all year round. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

My advice: be you! Be true to who you are, write about what inspires you and people WILL be interested. xx

I agree with Louise, be true to who you are!! I envy those girls every day, but that’s not getting me anywhere by being jealous or looking at my life like it’s not great. I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, even if it’s not getting paid to look pretty and travel the world.. maybe one day… 😉 Great post !
